Sensescape is a new media conference curated by RISD students in collaboration with Microsoft Garage in New York City. I am in charge of directing and creating this motion trailer for the conference.
An integral part of this conference is the XR and new media art that will be presented in the VR website that the team will launch on the day of the conference. For this motion trailer, I took inspiration from 'The Golden Record' that NASA launched in 1977 that carries a unique 'time capsule' along with them into interstellar space. 'The Voyager message is carried by a phonograph record, a 12-inch gold-plated copper disk containing sounds and images selected to portray the diversity of life and culture on Earth.' Through launching these artworks into the virtual space, this conference serves as the golden record as we try to record a new, emerging reality, archiving the 'artifacts of the future.'
I designed the vinyl player with a futuristic approach to a vintage, old device, choosing metallic and rock textures as a fusion of the past and the future.
Created in Blender, After Effects.
