Commissioned Book Cover Design and Book Illustrations
那些年，學霸教會我的事
Working with a famous Taiwanese book author Wang Lan Fen (王蘭芬) and CommonWealth Education Media & Publishing Co., Ltd. (天下雜誌), Taiwan's most influential education & parenting media, I designed a book cover for her book that is based on stories of students from prestigious high schools in Taiwan. She wants to depict these students who subvert the stereotypical image of hard-working, nerdy students, focusing on their creativity, unimaginable talents, and real-life experiences.
I was in charge of the illustrations of her book cover and interviewed student characters. I wanted to draw students in a fantastical classroom setting in an old-fashioned Japanese manga style that reminds the author of mangas from her childhood. The students stand on the shoulders of knowledge and are unleashing creativity under a starry night.
Collaborating with a major publishing group, we worked together to make several iterations and changes to my design. I enjoyed the process and learned how to balance client's requests and my designs.

My client wants a retro style and warmer colors. Therefore I changed the grain texture into a watercolor texture and modified the colors.

'Alice's Adventure in Wonderland'
Book Cover Redesign
Delving into the characters and elements that appears in the classic novel 'Alice's Adventures in Wonderland' by Lewis Carroll, I redesigned the book cover and endpaper, hoping to capture the chaotic, fantastical nature of the story.
